Sudbury - Mr. Clayton L. "Clay" Tyler, of Sudbury, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was 82.
Clay was born in Lubec, Maine, on March 29, 1932, a son of the late Clark and Ruth (Miller) Tyler. He was a 1949 graduate of Lubec High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to Lubec and worked in the lumbering and fishing industries.
In the early 1960s, Clay moved to Newton where he met his future bride, Heather Winchester. Both he and Heather worked at Newton-Wellesley Hospital at the time and married in 1965.
Until his retirement, Clay was employed as a sales associate for Walmart for many years.
He was a member of the Sudbury Militia and enjoyed vacationing at "The Pines" in South Casco, Maine.
In addition to his wife, Clay is survived by his sons, Scott Tyler and his wife, Sandy, of Sudbury, Mark Tyler and his wife, Anna, of Machias, Maine, Clayton Tyler Jr. and his wife, Gina, of Greensboro, Alabama and his daughter Mary Tyler of Arkansas; his brother Lawrence Tyler of Lubec Maine and several grandchildren including Michael, Angela, and Cassandra Tyler and several great grandchildren.
Clay was also the brother of the late Warren and Charlene Tyler and brother-in-law of the late Laura Tyler.
Funeral services are private.
