Waltham – Mrs. Colleen M. (McGrath) McDevitt of Waltham died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at her home following a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born March 28, 1949 in Waltham, a daughter of Theresa C. (Doherty) McGrath of Waltham and the late Eugene J. McGrath, and had been a lifelong resident. In 1966 she was a member of one of the last graduating classes at Saint Charles High School in Waltham. She worked for Mathatronics in Waltham and for the past 22 years she had been secretary to the Chief of the Waltham Fire Department. Colleen taught CCD at Our Lady’s Church in Waltham and had been a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader at the MacArthur School in Waltham. She enjoyed doing ceramics, traveling and summer vacations with her family in Seabrook, New Hampshire. In addition to her mother, she leaves her husband of 31 years, Edward M. McDevitt; her children, Christine E. and Meghan L. McDevitt; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly Sullivan, Maureen Kiley and her husband David, Carol LeBlanc and her husband Camille and Cheryl Stascavage and her husband Alan, all of Waltham; her father-in-law, James McDevitt of Lexington; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also the daughter-in-law of the late Pauline McDevitt and sister-in-law of the late James G. Sullivan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 295 Devonshire Street, 4th floor, Boston, MA 02110.
