Constance A. Gangi

Waltham - Mrs. Constance A. 'Connie' (Spada) Gangi, of Waltham, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at Wingate at Needham. She was 91. Connie was born in Dedham on July 31, 1918, daughter of the late Domenic and Carmella (Staula) Spada, and had lived in Waltham for more than 60 years. She was a longtime resident of the Francis Cabot Lowell Mill in Waltham where she received several awards for her volunteer work. She also volunteered at the adjacent Charles River Museum of Industry. Connie enjoyed cooking, walking, dancing, music, reading, playing pool, the computer and trips to the casinos . . . she loved life, "smile baby!" The wife of the late Ignatius Joseph Gangi, Connie was the beloved mother of Robert J. Gangi and his wife, Mary Jane, of Framingham, Joseph P. Gangi and his wife, Trisha, of Millis, Cora Gangi Bagley and her husband, Ken, of Poway, California and Laura Gangi Pond and her husband, Neal, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was also the devoted grandmother of Jonathan Gangi and his wife Kelley, Heather Gangi Garbitt and her husband, Gary 'Chip', Sarah Gangi, Michael Bagley and his wife, Michelle, David Bagley, Daniel Bagley, Jessamyn Gangi, Nicholas Gangi, Alexander Gangi, Damon Gangi and his wife, Michelle, and she was the adoring great-grandmother of Dominic Gangi, Vanessa Gangi, Beckett Gangi and Alexis Garbitt. In addition she leaves her sisters, Ann Flannigan of Chicago and Carmella Abbott of South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. Connie was also a sister of the late Louis Spada, Charles Spada, Mary Prisco, Nicholas Spada, Joseph Spada, Anthony Spada, and Lulu Spada Family and friends will honor and remember Connie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
