Waltham - Mrs. Constance M. (Casella) Lituri, of Waltham, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 in The Leland Home. She was 95.
Constance, lovingly known to family and friends as "Connie" was born October 11, 1915 in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York City a daughter of the late Rosario and Concetta (Muscara) Casella. Her mother died when Connie was age 3 and her dad later married Carmela (Sardi) Casella who raised Connie and her siblings. At the age of 10 she moved with her family to Waltham.
Connie worked for over 20 years as an administrative assistant in the superintendent's office for the Waltham Public School System before retiring.
She was active in the Waltham Senior Center and remained a part of a secretarial group that was still meeting socially. Her needs were simple and Connie was most happy when amongst her family. Having never earned her driver's license she relied on public transportation. Years ago she would board a bus in Newton to take in town to visit her daughter Kathy who once lived in the South End or a trip downtown to shop. Connie remained active even up until her time of death. She was a resident of the Leland Home for the past year and half where she easily and happily adapted to her new home. She would faithfully and routinely attend grandchildren's sporting activities from a lacrosse game to a wrestling match to a dance recital. She was there for each and every milestone event of her children and grandchildren. Simply stated by her children, "She was the nicest woman on the earth." Connie was very generous. She always kept a positive outlook, offered a kind word and exuded happiness to those in her company. She loved a good meal and will be remembered for her signature dish, "Nana's meatballs." She will be so very missed.
Her husband, Mario B. Lituri died December 7, 1981. She is predeceased by her siblings, Vincent, Anthony, Carmella, Joseph and Grace Casella.
She leaves her children, Mario L. Lituri and his wife, Lucille, of Waltham, Kathy M. Lituri and her husband, Steve Bores, of Lincoln and Anita L.
