Waltham – Mrs. Cornelia S. (Smolinsky) O'Connell, of Waltham, died on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. She was 82.
Connie was born in Brighton on August 9, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Bowen) Smolinsky. Before her retirement she had worked as an administrative assistant at Hanscom Air Force Base. She was a wonderful mother and always maintained a great sense of humor. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters, trips up to Rockport and Cape Ann and also enjoyed the harbor cruise out of Newburyport.
She was the wife of the late Karlen R. O'Connell and is survived by her children, Richard G. O'Connell and his wife, Terri Bright, of Jamaica Plain, Linda O. Guzzi and her husband, Richard, of Marlborough and Dianne M. O'Connell of Waltham; her grandsons, Brian and Eric Guzzi; her brother and sister Edward Smolinsky and his wife, Janice, of Waltham, Ann Scimone and her husband, James and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jack, Frank and Gerry Smolinsky.
Family and friends will honor and remember Connies life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday October 27th, from 4-8 pm in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Friday at 9 am before leaving in procession to Our Lady's Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
