Cynthia J. Hire

Cynthia J. (Lawson) Hire, of Waltham, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in Brigham and Woman’s Hospital following a brief battle with cancer. She was 65.

Cindy was born in Waltham on January 5, 1958, a daughter of the late Carl Lawson and Helen (Chace) (Lawson) Chamberlain. Raised in Waltham she was a 1976 graduate of Waltham High and continued her studies at Tewksbury Hospital Nursing School where she earned her licensed practical nursing degree. Prior to staying at home to raise her four sons she worked at area nursing homes.

She leaves her beloved husband, Kenneth E. Hire of Waltham; her sons, Jason C. Hire (Iti) of Waltham, Donald M. Hire (Mariana) of Nahant, Jeremy Hire of Assonet, and Andrew Hire (Erin) of Waltham; her grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Brayden, and Riley; and her sisters, Deborah Lawson of Waltham and Rebecca Lewis (Jeff) of Ashland; her brother-in-law, Frederick Hire (Dorothy) of Hudson; her niece and nephews, Hanna Lewis, Dean Hire, and Stephen Hire (Gail).

Cynthia was also the sister-in-law of the late David Hire.

Family and friends will honor and remember Cindy’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, November 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Thursday morning where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
