Daniel C. DeWolfe

May 3, 1933 — February 14, 2025

Shrewsbury, MA

Shrewsbury – Dan DeWolfe was born with a song in his heart, a humorous joke on his mind, and kindness for all he met.

Daniel C. DeWolfe was born on May 3, 1933, in Bridgeport, CT, he was a son of the late Daniel C. and Edith (Mangum) DeWolfe. Growing up in Putney, VT, he graduated from The Putney School and then earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of Vermont and his Master’s in Business Administration from Clark University. Dan served honorably in the United States Army in the mid-1950s. He married Worcester native Barbara H. Perry on May 22, 1965, in Sacred Heart Church in Worcester and he called Shrewsbury home for almost sixty years. His love, Barbara, died March 22, 2024.

Dan worked for over thirty-five years for the former New England Power Company in Westborough as a Personnel Manager.

For 40+ years, Dan was also one of the leaders of the well-known Irish band, Jug O Punch. Alongside his great friend, Jim McCrohon, they were welcomed staples each Sunday for decades at the well-known Old Timer’s Restaurant in Clinton, MA. They also played in countless other regional venues at weddings, divorces, reunions, wakes, and many a backyard. Dan also sang with The Worcester Men of Song enjoying and coordinating their annual celebrations. Dan was also a poet sharing wonderful Christmas limericks throughout the years with many friends.

Whether in Shrewsbury, on Cape Cod, or in Venice, FL, Dan loved spending time with family and friends telling jokes (good or bad), crafting stories, and enjoying a sip of Paddy’s.

Dan died Friday, February 14, 2025 with his family gathered at his side. He was 91.

He leaves his children, Charles A. DeWolfe of Brattleboro, Vermont, Christopher J. DeWolfe (Rebecca) of Shrewsbury and Alison J. DeWolfe of Newton; his grandchildren, Caitlin DeWolfe (Josh Soper), Kelsey DeWolfe, Christopher DeWolfe, Daniel DeWolfe, Kai DeWolfe, and Josiah DeWolfe; brother of Thomas DeWolfe of Greenport, New York and the late Rev.
