Waltham – Mr. Daniel P. Howes, of Waltham, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 34. Dan was born in Waltham on May 8, 1975 and had been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1993 and earned a degree in graphic design at Middlesex Community College. Dan also received a certificate in graphic and interactive design at Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts in Waltham where he also worked as a teaching assistant in 2006/07. He developed graphic print and web designs for several local firms. He leaves his parents, Paul R. and Joyce A. (Murphy) Howes; his sister, Dawn McPhail and her husband, William, of West Newbury; his nephew, Nicholas McPhail and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family and friends will honor and remember Dan's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Thursday morning when his funeral service will held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
