Framingham – Mr. Daniel J. Hylander, of Framingham, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was 54.
Dan was born in Boston on May 2, 1961, one of eight beloved sons of the late Leonard R. and D. Carolyn (Brayne) Hylander. He was raised and educated in Waltham where he lived for most of his life before moving to Framingham.
He had been an outreach worker and in-house supervisor for the South Middlesex Opportunity Council in Framingham.
Dan's passion in life was music. He was a singer and a songwriter and could carry a tune with the best of them. He was also a great cook who knew his way around a kitchen. Watching a good movie or heading to a North Shore beach were also favorite pastimes.
He leaves his daughter, Jessica Cardalino of Somerville; his grandson; William Desrochers of Somerville; his brothers, Dr. Gary L. Hylander and his wife, Jane, of Bridgewater, Colonel Lance E. Hylander, USA (Ret.) and his wife, Lynda, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Waltham Police Lieutenant (Ret.) Thomas E. Hylander of Waltham, Mark R. Hylander and his wife, Deborah, of Whitman, Timothy L. Hylander of Waltham, Christopher M. Hylander and his wife, Gina, of Milford, and Stephen D. Hylander and his wife, Kathleen, of Newton and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dan's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, April 24th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
