Wayland – Mr. David M. Colantropo, of Wayland, died surrounded by his adoring family at his home on Monday, December 28, 2015. He was 62.
David was born in Waltham on July 27, 1953, a son of the late Enrico and Mary Colantropo, and was raised in Newton. He graduated from Newton North High School in 1971 and pursued a career in the security and fire alarm trade. He founded and was president of Minute Man Alarm, Inc., serving New England for 30 years. David was a hardworking man and took great pride in providing for his greatest love, his family.
He enjoyed summertime on Cape Cod, walking the water's edge endlessly searching for sea glass and watching the glorious sunsets with his wife, Cindy. He was fascinated with classic cars, enjoyed boating (he never passed up a boat ride), fishing, tennis, tending to his garden, and even learned to ski at age 50, becoming an avid skier. David was an ardent sports fan and kept up with all of the great Boston sports teams. He loved a good party and being with his family and friends.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy (Petitti); his children Dwayne Colantropo and his wife, Laura, of Framingham, Kristie Smith and her husband, Dan, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Eric Colantropo of Wayland; and his greatest pride and joy, his beautiful grandchildren, Mattias and Salvatore Colantropo, Isabella, Danielle, and Samantha Smith. He also leaves his sisters, Gloria Todesco of Roslindale, Judy DeMeo and her husband, Tony, of Stow, Bonnie Beaudet and her husband, Steve, of Littleton, Betty Brault and her husband, Thom, of Upton; his father and mother-in-law, Charles Petitti and Barbara Petitti, both of Newton; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen Harker and her husband, Tom, of Dayton, Ohio, Chuck Petitti and his wife, Susie, of Canton, Alan Petitti of Brockton, Cheryl Petitti of Newton, Steven Petitti and his wife, Gina, of Falmouth, and Diane Farmer and her husband, Joe, of Braintree; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a great nephew.
Family and friends will honor and remember David's life by gathering for calling hours at Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, January 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Cavalry Cemetery, Waltham.
