David J. Murray

Waltham - Mr. David J. Murray, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in his home. He was 83. Born in Waltham on September 3, 1926, a son of the late David J. and Bertha (Riley) Murray, David was the owner and operator of David J. Murray Inc. in Waltham for thirty years until his retirement. He was an usher for many years at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham and was also a member of the American Legion. During World War II he served with the United States Navy. David leaves his wife, Irene C. (Joyal) Murray; his children, David A. Murray of Southport, Maine, Nancy J. Murray of Brookfield, Vermont, Ronald J. Murray of San Jose, California, Karen M. Dumond of Maynard, Robert P. Murray of Windham, New Hampshire, and Beth A. Gagnon of Stow; two brothers, George Murray of Maine and Edward Murray of New Hampshire; two sisters, Rita Qualters of Waltham and Eileen Giroux of Framingham, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Frances Powers. Family and friends will honor and remember David's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
