Mr. David M. 'Dave' Walsh, of Waltham, died Sunday, January 15, 2023 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 67.
Dave was born in Waltham on December 14, 1955, a son of the late Richard and Rita (Keohane) Walsh, and had been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and after that served with the U.S. Merchant Marines.
Following his discharge Dave became a Waltham Firefighter for twenty-eight years where he served the city most recently at Engine 7, on Lake Street, until his retirement.
He had a lifelong passion for fishing and could often be found locally at Hardy Pond or, more often, along the beaches in Falmouth.
He leaves his brothers, Richard S. ‘Ric’ Walsh of East Falmouth and Michael J. Walsh and his wife, Grace, of Waltham, his niece and nephew, Julia and Daniel Walsh, his former wife, Ellen (Blanchette) Walsh, and many cousins and friends.
Dave was also a brother of the late Daniel Walsh.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dave’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, January 19th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Following cremation, burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
