Dennis, Mass - Mrs. Dawna M. (Inferrera) Traversi, of Concord and Dennis, died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at her home on Cape Cod after a short illness. She was 53. She was the beloved wife of Fred Traversi for thirty one-years. Together they lived with their three children in Concord, and in Dennis on Cape Cod. Mrs. Traversi was born and raised in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1971. She earned her BS degree in Child Psychology from Boston College in 1975 and her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley College. A gifted teacher, she taught in the Cambridge Public Schools for thirty years. Teaching was an avocation for Dawna where her caring and positive nature instilled her students and colleagues with a sense of confidence and pride. The outreach from the Cambridge community during her illness warmed her heart. Dawna loved the beauty and peacefulness of Cape Cod. She spent much of her free time enjoying the beach and outdoor activities with a growing circle of friends and family. She treasured these relationships and the Cape Cod experience. She was the daughter of the late Phyllis (Wilson) Inferrera who died in 1971. In addition to her husband, Dawna leaves her children, Loryn M. Traversi of Hyannis, Kristyn M. Traversi and Mark J. Traversi both of Concord; her father, Joseph Inferrera of Ashland, and his wife Donna and children, Haley and Matthew; her brother, Joseph Inferrera, Jr. of Stow and her sister, Patti Gorgone of Dennis. Blessed by a large extended family, Dawna was supported by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and family friends. The Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patricks Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m.
