Framingham – Mr. Desire 'Dave' Joseph Caissie, of Framingham, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, June 6, 2013 in Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. He was 106.
Dave was born on November 6, 1906, in St. Norbert, New Brunswick, a son of the late Alexandre and Caroline (Richard) Caissie. He attended school in St. Norbert, New Brunswick, Canada. At the age of 16, he and his family moved to Salem and then to Waltham.
In October of 1931 he married Anna LeBlanc. They were married for seventy-four years until Anna's death in January of 2006.
He was an assistant manager at the Waldorf Lunch for several years. After thirty years of service, Dave retired from the Raytheon Company in November of 1971. He then went to work part-time at the Concord Auto Auction.
Dave enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and dominoes. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and was able to see the Stanley Cup in September of 2011 when it was brought to him at the nursing home.
He loved the company of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his children, Leo Caissie and his wife, Jeannine (Richard) of Hudson, Paul Caissie and his wife, Jeannine (Doucett) of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, Edwin Duvall and his wife, Mary (Mahan) of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Roseanna Caissie of Waltham; his brother, Maxime Caissie of Ashland; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late David Caissie, grandfather of the late Paula Caissie Babineau and a brother of the late Thomas Caissie, Emile Caissie, Charles Caissie, Leonid Caissie, Alice Gaudet, Philomene Albert, Delma Nelson, Catherine Adams and Margaret Veazue.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dave's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 9th, from 2 to 6 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
