Destinie Irvin passed away on July 26, 2020, peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving mother, brother, boyfriend, and best friend. She was 19 years old.
Destinie was born in New York on March 7, 2001, to her mother, Tiffany Edwards. She was tiny but fierce and achieved all of her developmental milestones early. Once Destinie learned something, she would not let anyone do it for her. Destinie was a tremendous student and collected numerous awards and certificates for her achievements.
She was the loyal and protective older sister of Russaun Gordon. Her brother said she was his favorite person in the world, she was always by his side, and he is grateful for the time he had with her. Destinie was beautiful inside and out and that beauty was recognized by her adoring boyfriend, Marco, and her best friend, Cathryn. Those who were close to her describe her as "love personified".
Destinie received her cancer diagnosis at a young age, but she did not let this challenge stop her from dreaming her dreams and setting her goals. She had a childlike curiosity that stayed with her throughout her life and she had an unending enthusiasm for trying new things. Her hopefulness in the face of adversity was inspiring to all who knew her. Destinie loved animals, her music, and having her own money. She loved babies and greeted every little one she saw with a big smile and warm welcome. Destinie enjoyed her independence in her own apartment and grew her passion for photography then. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking her own meals, but also loved her take-out orders. Destinie had many good times with her friends and wanted to be out, enjoying life, until her final days. Destinie's powerful and loving personality impacted all who met her and her memory will live on in them forever.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Destinie's life on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in The Joyce Funeral Home at 12 noon before processing to Calvary Cemetery, 250 High St. Waltham where her graveside services will be held at 1 p.m.
