Diane J. Chagnon

Diane J. (Arsenault) Chagnon, of Waltham, died Thursday, March 16, 2023 in Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 86.

Diane was born on May 4, 1936 in Waltham a daughter of the late Alfred and Bella (Cormier) Arsenault. A graduate of Waltham High School she married William F. Chagnon in Saint Joseph’s Church on August 22, 1959.

In addition to raising her children she worked in accounting at Kybe Corporation and later with Plating for Electronics Co., both in Waltham.

Diane and Bill loved to travel and excursions to Las Vegas to try their luck and have some fun at the casinos. They also enjoyed numerous cruises to many destinations.

She was an active member of the Waltham Senior Center as well as North Waltham Seniors and was instrumental in helping organize countless social outings. Diane was also a familiar and welcomed face at Dunkin's on River Street where she would regularly meet her coffee friends. Diane and her sisters were each other’s great friends and treasured their time sharing stories and laughs.

Wife of the late William F. Chagnon Sr. († November 4, 2006) she was also predeceased by her sisters, Lea Giardina, Sandra Gorgone and Lorraine Aucoin.

She leaves her children, William F. Chagnon Jr. (Sarah) of Anacortes, WA, Lynn M. Girouard (Jimmy) of Brownsville, VT, David J. Chagnon Sr. (Kara) and Sharon A. DiTommaso (Rob) all of Waltham; her siblings, Alfred Arsenault, Jr. and Barbara Bernard, both of Florida; her grandchildren, Joanna Santos, Maryls Baker, Sheri Chagnon, Sarah Chagnon, Desiree Neal, David Chagnon Jr., and Isabella DiTommaso; also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law of Raymond and Barbara Chagnon of Falmouth; many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Diane’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, on Thursday, March 23^rd  from 3 to 6 p.m. and again on Friday morning where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
