Waltham - Diane S. Huntley, of Waltham, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the Tippett House in Needham. She was 75. Diane was born on September 1, 1940 in Cutler, Maine, a daughter of the late Frank and Berla (Wilcox) Huntley.
She was raised on the coast of Maine, and was drawn to and reinvigorated by the ocean. Ever the hearty Mainer, she worked hard throughout her life. Never one for New England heat, she was known to help her beloved family install air conditioners well into her 70s. Diane appreciated the small details of life, like the beauty of a crisp Fall morning or a day with friends at Foxwoods Casino.
Diane had a special ability to care for those around her without asking for anything in return. She was a steady and kind presence who took great joy in giving the most exciting gifts at holidays, and children were naturally drawn to her. Diane had a unique patience and magic touch with babies, and she played a large role in raising David, Ashley, Anslea, Carter Grace, and Samantha. Diane often gave to coworkers, and she cared for her best friend, brother, and aunt through their terminal illnesses. Of all her charitable deeds, Diane would simply say, "Well, someone had to do it."
Diane was the sister of the late Frank Huntley.
Diane's family will host a private celebration of her life. Diane will be buried in Cutler, Maine with services in August 2016.
