Needham – Mrs. Diane E. (Bermingham) Shea, of Needham, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at her home. She was 45.
Diane was born in Natick on August 8, 1967, a daughter of the late Francis E. and Felicita G. (Brovelli) Bermingham. She was raised in Natick and graduated from Marian High School in Framingham. She had been a Needham resident for the past six years.
After high school Diane earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bentley College in Waltham and achieved a second bachelor's degree in nursing from Simmons College in Boston. She worked as a registered nurse for a number of years at New England Medical Center and most recently at New England Baptist Hospital.
She was a woman of varied interests and possessed unique talents. Diane loved music and dance; everything about New York City including its stores, fast pace and Broadway musicals; visits to Chatham and West Yarmouth on the Cape; the New England Patriots; celebrity news . . . always being the first to read People magazine cover to cover when it arrived in the mailbox and music performed by her favorite band, U2.
Diane's strongest affections however were reserved for the loves of her life; her husband, John W. Shea, who she married at Saint Jude Church in Waltham on July 28, 2002 and her beautiful young daughters, Maeve F. and Luisa M. Shea. Her greatest joy and strength came from the love and affection that they shared together as a family.
In addition to her husband and daughters Diane leaves her brother and sisters, Francis D. Bermingham of Groton, Ann-Marie Bermingham of West Roxbury and Marisa Zulch of Ludlow; her father-in-law, Richard P. Shea of Waltham and twelve nieces and nephews.
She was also the daughter-in-law of the late Mary T. (Rooney) Shea.
Family and friends will honor and remember Diane's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, July 10th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Joseph's Church, 1382 Highland Avenue, Needham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Natick.
