Mr. Dominic V. Restagno, of Waltham, died Friday, February 10, 2023 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 79.
Dominic was born in Watertown on April 17, 1943, the son of the late Vincent and Celia (DiRienzo) Restagno. He graduated from Watertown High School and earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Fitchburg State University. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and after that enjoyed a successful career at the Raytheon Company. As an engineer he worked in missile defense systems and retired after forty-seven years with the company.
In 1965 he married his beloved wife, Rosemarie (Esposito) in Saint Patrick’s Church in Watertown and the couple moved to Waltham in 1972 where they raised their family.
He enjoyed golfing and loved coaching youth sports for his children. For many years Dominic was a coach with the Warrendale Little League and Mickey Mantle League. He was also an avid Patriots fan and a season ticket holder. He also enjoyed following the Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
In addition to his wife, Rosemarie (Esposito) Restagno, he leaves his children, Julie Bonavita (Carmine) of Tewksbury and Dominic Restagno (Jill Robin) of Millbury; his grandson, Nicolino Bonavita; his sister, Pauline Russo of Watertown and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Frances Knight.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dominic's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Wednesday, February 15th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Thursday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
