Waltham – Mr. Donald F. Anderson, of Waltham, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 81.
Don was born in Boston on December 16, 1935, a son of the late Charles and Catherine (Moore) Anderson, and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston. Until his retirement he worked as a mechanical designer of the Raytheon Company.
He served for six years with the United States Army National Guard during and after the Korean War.
Following his marriage in 1957 to Newton native Sheila A. Fennelly the couple moved to Waltham where they remained lifelong residents. Don and Sheila shared fifty-nine years together before Sheila's death just over a year ago on May 27, 2016.
He was a longtime member of the Waltham Cemetery Commission where he had been serving as chairman.
Don will long be remembered for his kind, affable nature . . . his giving spirit and for the skill, patience, love and devotion he demonstrated being the caregiver to his cherished son, Keith throughout his long illness, his father-in-law, Richard and to his beloved wife, Sheila.
He leaves his son, Scott W. Anderson and his wife, Joanne, of Pepperell; his grandchildren, Chelsea and Clay Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
Don was also the father of the late Keith D. Anderson and a brother of the late Charles and Joseph Anderson.
Family and friends will honor and remember Don's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 18th from 3 to 6 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
