Waltham – Mr. Donald H. Aucoin, of Waltham, died Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Stanley Tippett Home in Needham. He was 68.
Don was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on May 15, 1947, a son of the late Henry and Lucienne (Guimond) Aucoin, and was raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island. A graduate of Cumberland High School, he served as a sergeant with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He had lived in Woburn and in Lynn before moving to Waltham seven years ago. Until his retirement Don worked as a project manager for Verizon. He enjoyed golfing and could often be found on the links at Wayland Golf Club. He was also a bowler at the alleys at Hanscom Air Force Base and at Lanes & Games in Cambridge.
He leaves his wife, Paula (Gallagher) Aucoin, his son, Mark Aucoin and his wife, Lisa, of Billerica; his step-son, Ron Gallagher and his wife, Bea, of Duxbury; his grandchildren, Justin and Kayla Aucoin; his step-grandchildren, William, Jack and Nicholas Gallagher and his sister, Claire Patrie of Harrisville, Rhode Island.
Family and friends will honor and remember Don's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 21st from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
