Waltham - Mr. Donald R. Murphy, of Waltham, formerly of Arlington died Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. He was 94.
Don was born in Boston on February 7, 1928, a son of the late Richard and Anna (Mullen) Murphy. He lived in South Boston and in Dorchester and graduated from Boston Technical High School. During World War II he served with the United States Coast Guard.
Upon his return from the service he continued his studies at Bentley College at its downtown Boston location, now Bentley University in Waltham. On May 9, 1959 he married Mary Ann Cantalupo in Immaculate Conception Church in Medford. The pair made Arlington their home for forty-six years before moving to Waltham fifteen years ago.
Until his retirement Don worked more than thirty years as a systems analyst for the Arthur D. Little Company in Cambridge.
Don leaves his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Ann (Cantalupo) Murphy; his children, Diane C. Bono (Anthony) of Framingham and Brian R. Murphy of Boston and his sister, Mary Ellen Murphy of New Jersey.
He was also the brother of the late Ann 'Nancy' Riley and Richard Murphy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Don's life by gathering to visit on Wednesday morning, March 30th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
