Waltham – Mr. Donald J. Weagle, Sr., of Waltham, died Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Epoch Senior Health Care in Weston. He was 74.
Don was born in Marlboro on April 13, 1934, a son of the late Melvin C., Sr. and Alice Lorraine (Bonin) Weagle and grew up in Waltham. He was a 1952 graduate of Waltham High School and served for four years with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Don always had an interest in drama and when he was in the service in California he joined the Mira Theater Guild in Vallejo. He played a role in several plays including "Stalag 17", "Mr. Roberts" and "Our Town". After he left the Air Force he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City on the GI Bill and graduated in 1958. He returned to Hollywood where he was given the screen name 'Tim Bolton' and landed parts in the 1962 western, "Stagecoach to Dancers Rock" and appeared in several episodes of "Death Valley Days" and "Petticoat Junction" in the 1960's.
After returning home he went to work as a security guard for the Raytheon Company, most recently in Burlington, until his retirement. He had been a former member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Legion in Sudbury.
He leaves his son, Jeffrey F. Weagle of Brighton; his sisters and brother, Ellen Patrice Kilmain of Waltham, Melvin C. Weagle, Jr. of Peachtree City, Georgia and Suzanne Guy of Harvard and several nieces and nephews.
Don was also the father of the late Donald J. Weagle, Jr.
Family and friends will honor and remember Don's life by gathering at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
