Waltham - Mrs. Doreen F. (Black) McGovern, of Waltham, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at her home. She was 52. Born in Brighton, a daughter of Priscilla (Doucette) Black of Henderson, Nevada, she had been a lifelong Waltham resident. Doreen was a check processor for Fiserv in Somerville for many years and she had also worked as a cashier for Hess Gas Station in Waltham. She was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1975, and in her spare time she enjoyed reading, swimming, gardening, animals, and the outdoors. In addition to her mother, Doreen leaves her husband, Kevin P. McGovern; one son, Patrick K. McGovern and one daughter, Stacey A. McGovern, both of Waltham; two sisters, Cynthia A. Neal of Reading, and Christine M. Vanaria of Henderson, Nevada; her special friends, Gretchen Cummings of Framingham and her late husband, Bob, and Michelle Haswell of Natick. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
