Fr. Juan Echavarria, Pastor of St. Mary of the Hills Parish, will be the celebrant. A private family burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester is Tuesday.
Shrewsbury - Shakespeare once spoke about the link between kindness and longevity. And while the physical body will one day die…what’s given to one another lives on and is passed to other generations.
Doris was the life of the party, playing the piano, singing and sharing her love and advice with everyone. Her motto in life was to take everything in stride and with joy. Music was her passion, and she left this world with a song in her heart, ready to be reunited with her loving husband, Serafino “Fifi” Paolini. Together, they would sing, dance and perform together, her on the piano, him on the snare drum. They were part of a variety of bowling leagues and loved to play bingo, scrabble, pitch and cribbage. She enjoyed spending warm summer days at the beach in Maine and winters in Florida. She was an avid baker and enjoyed baking traditional French Tourtière pies and sharing her love for food with friends and family.
Doris was born and raised in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She spent 20+ years working for Massachusetts Electric in Westboro and many years working for the Shrewsbury school system. She raised her family on Lake Quinsigamond and later spent over seventeen years living at Southgate in Shrewsbury with the friends and community she loved. She would often tell family and friends it was like living on a cruise ship seven days a week.
Doris is predeceased by her first husband, the late Alfred J. Abair; her second husband, the late Serafino “Fifi” Paolini; her brother, Paul Meunier and sisters, Marie Sanguinet, Blanche St. Martin, Eva LeBlanc, Anita Ewald and Cecile Savageau Hall.
She leaves behind her three children, Judith (Abair) Gorin and her husband, James Gorin, of Wayland, Robert Abair and his wife, Mary Abair, of Westborough, and Nancy (Abair) Kielbasa and her husband, Joseph Kielbasa, of Westfield. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Doris’ extended family at Shrewsbury Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center for their love, compassion and exceptional care.
