Doris M. (Chiasson) Arsenault, of Waltham, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her home. She was 97.
Born in Waltham on May 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Poirier) Chiasson. A lifelong Waltham resident, she was a graduate of St. Pierre School and Waltham High School.
In 1947, Doris married the love of her life, fellow Waltham native, Joseph F. Arsenault, and they soon started their life and family together. They cherished the 75 years of marriage they shared, and the secret to their happiness and longevity was finding things to enjoy together. They loved going dancing at the French club and taking Sunday rides together.
Their travels were particularly special, visiting places like Hawaii, Bermuda, Canada, Atlantic City and especially on their 25th anniversary when their family and friends surprised them with a party at the French Club and a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe together! Closer to home, they also made many happy memories and friends on family trips up to their timeshare in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. She loved that all the shops were right in walking distance and Joe loved that it was nestled right on the golf course. This was where Joe shared his passion for golf with Doris, and she, in turn, was soon showing Joe how to putt!
Doris also worked for a time at The Waltham Watch Factory before starting the role that would be the most fulfilling, the most difficult, and one, only she could do best, and that was being the greatest Mom to her five children.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband Joseph F. Arsenault and son Leonard J. Arsenault as well as her siblings, Loretta Boudreau and Lester J. Chiasson.
Doris leaves her children, James P. Arsenault (Caren) of Taunton, Denise T. Hoyt Arsenault of Waltham, Gerald F. Arsenault (Joy) of Billerica, and Donald E. Arsenault of Carlisle; her siblings, Odette Cormier of Watertown and Ronald Chiasson of Westborough; her daughter-in-law, Marie Arsenault of Rhode Island; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Doris’ life by gathering for a Morning Wake in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, March 27th beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
