Waltham – Mrs. Doris (Mazochi) Marqus, of Waltham, died Friday, October 23, 2009 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 88. Doris was born in Waltham on June 17, 1921, a daughter of the late Albert and Emily (Rivetti) Mazochi, and had been a lifelong resident. She and her late husband, Dan, had seven children and Doris spent her life raising them and later helped to care for her grandchildren. In the early years of the 'Little Nippers' baseball league she spent countless hours as a member of its auxiliary working at 'The Shack'. The wife of the late Daniel C. Marqus, she leaves her children, Lorraine M. Bissett and her husband, Thomas, of Alliance, Ohio, Daniel D. Marqus of Haverhill, William P. Marqus and his wife, Rosemarie, of Watertown, Nancy R. Silva and her husband, John, Albert J. 'Rocky' Marqus and his wife, Patricia, and Christopher Marqus, all of Waltham; her sister, Mary Farquharson of Maynard; her brother, David Mazochi of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Doris was also the mother of the late Thomas S. Marqus, grandmother of the late Tamara L. Bissett and sister of the late Louise Peters and William Mazochi. Family and friends will honor and remember Doris's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
