Waltham – Mrs. Doris E. (Quinlan) Stryker, of Waltham, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Wilmington Rehabilitation Center after fighting a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was 89.
Doris was born June 26, 1926 in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, a daughter of the late James E. and Alma B. (Surette) Quinlan, and was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Academy in Newton. She worked for over 20 years at Beaver Surgical Blades Company in Waltham before retiring.
She lived most of her life in Waltham, and for more than 30 years resided at "The Mill" on Moody Street, where she earned her seniority as being the longest residing resident.
Her interests included reading, politics, crafting, listening to talk radio, and practicing her faith and love for God.
She leaves her only child, Karla A. Stryker-Currier and her husband, Ronald of Woburn; her sister, Jean A. Wright of Wilmington and her niece, Jacqueline Holmes of Wilmington.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Frank O'Reilly of Somerville and her brother James E. Quinlan, Jr.
Family and friends will honor and remember Doris's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20) Waltham on Saturday, January 2nd from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to The Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Mount Feake Cemetery will be private.
