Dorothea Guzzi

East Providence, RI – Mrs. Dorothea (Harakakos) Guzzi, of East Providence, formerly of Newtonville, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was 95. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, a daughter of the late John and Zoie (Papaou) Harakakos, Dorothea had lived in Newtonville for most of her life. She had been one of the original co-owners of the Waltham Spa and had also owned the Austin Coffee Shop in Newtonville for many years. The wife of the late Salvatore Guzzi, she leaves her children, Richard J. Guzzi of Watertown and Elizabeth J. Washburn of Bellingham; her grandchildren, Derek Guzzi of Upton, Jay Guzzi of Brookline and Melissa Washburn of Bellingham; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Nicholas and Christopher Harakakos, Alice Vlachos and Mary Collura. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday morning.
