Dorothy C. Cannon

Waltham – Miss Dorothy C. Cannon of Waltham died Monday, October 24, 2005 in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was 79. Born in Boston, Miss Cannon had lived in Dorchester before moving to Waltham in 1975. She was a secretary for AT&T for 17 years, for the Boston Edison Company for 22 years, and for UPS for 14 years prior to her retirement. Miss Cannon was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves as well as a former member of the Marine Corps League and the Women Marine Association. She was the daughter of the late John M. and Agnes W. (Maher) Cannon, and the sister of the late Eileen B. Lane and John D. Cannon and his wife, Joan M. Cannon. Miss Cannon is survived by her cousin, Marie E. Wilson of Canton and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Friday at 8 a.m. from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Luke’s Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
