Mrs. Dorothy L. (Hand) Evangelista, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in the Concord Healthcare Center in Concord. She was 82. Dottie was born in Waltham on April 24, 1927, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Helen (Moore) Hand. She worked at the Waltham Watch Company and the Reservoir Nursing Home in Waltham as a certified nurse's aide for twenty-six years. Dottie worked at the Fife and Drum Restaurant in the Minuteman Vocational Technical High School where she was highly regarded by the students, retiring in 2002 after 26 years as the head cashier. She loved flowers, chocolate, and anything Irish. Dottie cherished her grandchildren and was noted for her kindness and caring nature. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Florenzo T. 'Lolly' Evangelista; her daughters, Karen McEneaney of Gardner MT, Janet Dickey of Littleton, and Paula Lewis of New Durham NH; her brother, Paul 'Mickey' Hand of Wayland; her sister, Mary Carney of Arlington; her grandchildren, Julia Dugan of Manchester, NH and Staff Sgt. Jesse Dugan, U.S.A. stationed in Germany; her great grandchildren, Emma Rose and Milla Dugan of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. Dottie was also the sister of the late James and Robert Hand. The family would like to thank Marianne and the staff at the Concord Healthcare Center as well as the staff at Care Alternative Hospice. Family and friends will honor and remember Dorothy's life by gathering at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Saturday at 9:15 am before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will be private.
