Waltham Mrs. D. Carolyn (Brayne) Hylander of Waltham died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at her home. She was 71. Born in Waltham, a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Margaret (Hart) Brayne, she was a lifelong resident and graduated from Saint Marys High School, Waltham in 1950. She had been a longtime member and past treasurer of Saint Marys Mothers Club and had been involved in many parish activities. She was widowed at age 38 when her husband Leonard R. Hylander passed away and raised eight sons who will remember her as a loving and faithful mother who devoted her life to her family. She leaves her children, Dr. Gary L. Hylander and his wife Jane of Bridgewater, Ret. U.S. Army Colonel Lance E. Hylander and his wife Lynda of Mannassas, VA, Ret. Waltham Police Lieutenant Thomas E. Hylander of Waltham, Mark R. Hylander and his wife Deborah of Whitman, Timothy L. Hylander and his wife Marybeth of Newmarket, NH, Daniel J. and Christopher M. Hylander both of Waltham and Stephen D. Hylander and his wife Kathleen of Newton; her sisters, Peggy A. Sullivan of Waltham and Constance Brown of Saxonville; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Abigail Swensen and Mary Brayne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
