Dorothy A. O'Malley

Dorothy A. O’Malley, of Milford, formerly of Waltham, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in her home. She was 80.

Dorothy was born in Waltham on June 23, 1942, a daughter of the late Joseph A. “Bud” and Dorothy A. (Brady) O’Malley. She graduated from Waltham High School and continued her studies at Regis College where she earned her bachelor’s degree and at Boston College where she earned her Master’s degree. Dorothy had worked as an English teacher and guidance counselor at Bedford High School for forty years until her retirement.

She enjoyed many happy summers in Dennis. She also loved hosting family and friends, cooking them delicious meals and could always be found knitting or enjoying a good book.

She leaves her children Ann B. Hovsepian (Carl Garland), Lois C. Hovsepian, all of Milford, and Robert B. Hovsepian (Debra) of West Yarmouth; her step-children, Mary Farrell of Medway and Leo Hovsepian of Brookline; her grandchildren, Geoffrey Farrell, Sarah Farrell, Casey Archambault (Jake), Greg Hovsepian (Jessie), Nicholas Garland, and Joshua Garland; her great-grandchildren, Emmy, Zoey, and Lucy; her sister and brother, Marcia J. Como (Robert), and William J. O’Malley (Lisa) all of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was also the sister of the late Peter J. O’Malley and former wife of the late Leo Hovsepian.

Family and friends will honor and remember Dorothy’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, November 17^th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
