Oldsmar, Fla. – Mrs. Dorothy T. "Dolly" (Dalicandro) Saia, of Oldsmar, formerly of Waltham, died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida surrounded by her loving family after a long struggle with scleroderma. She was 85.
Dolly was born in Newton on October 25, 1927, the youngest child of the late Cesidio and Sarah (Deluca) Dalicandro. She lived in Waltham before moving to Florida more than twenty years ago. Until her retirement she worked at the Raytheon Corporation and before that at the Clevite Company in Waltham. Dolly loved watching "her" Red Sox and spending time with family and friends.
Dolly's memory will be cherished by her adoring husband of 65 years, Louis Saia; her children, Stephen Saia and his wife, Rosella, of Waltham and Cynthia Roach and her husband, Gary, of Berkeley, California; her grandchildren, Eric and Ashley Saia and Nikki and Chris Roach along with many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a circle of wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her eight siblings, Frank Dalicandro,Vickie Cetrone, Mac Dalicandro, Ann Iodice, Lena Staten, Mimi Dalicandro, Loretta Weeks and Nicky Dalicandro.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dolly's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, August 7th, from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 p.m.
