Douglass Christian Fahnoe of Waltham died Friday, November 4, 2022. He was 50.
Doug was a family man; a devoted son and brother, a doting father, husband and friend.
Son of the late Herb and Dene Fahnoe, Doug was born in Evanston, IL and was raised in Arlington Heights, IL. He married Kelly (LeBoeuf) in 2004 and raised two wonderful sons, Jonah and Ryan, of whom he was so proud. He is survived by his siblings Karl (Kristen), Chris (Rebecca), Kirstin (Tami); nephew Lucas, nieces Linnea, Kendall, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, including: Jeff Johnson (Donna), Collin, Reece, Donna Johnson, Larry (Jill) Fahnoe, Norm (Martha) Fahnoe. Extended family members Kathy and Jerry LeBoeuf, Jamie (Nasser) Abbas and nephews Noah, Adam and Jude Abbas.
Doug was his happiest with his family, who were known for their sleepless weekends and holidays spent together engaging in family traditions including epic gingerbread house competitions, scavenger hunts, game nights and trips to Sunrise lodge with the Johnson’s.
Doug was fiercely analytical, with a natural ability for problem solving which led to him pursuing a career in the sciences. After graduating with a BSc in Chemistry from Ball State University, Doug spent the next 20 years in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.
In health, Doug was a dedicated family man, good neighbor and loyal friend. He was the first one to volunteer and the last one to tie up loose ends. He was there for anyone in need without a second thought. He would enthusiastically dive into help with any projects the kids had for school, Cub Scouts or to play the new game they received that was too tedious for most of us. If you had a crazy idea, he was your guy to make it happen. The custom-made Ninja
Warrior course in the backyard was just one of these such ideas!
Doug will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. We will remember him as a loving, kind, compassionate and complex fella with whom we had too little time.
Family and friends will honor and remember Doug’s life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, November 11th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12th, at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Burial will be private.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, we take the time to share a kindness: reach out to help a neighbor, reconnect with an old friend or pay a small kindness forward in Doug's memory.
