Edie U. (Neugebauer) James

Sudbury – Mrs. Edeltraud U. 'Edie' (Neugebauer) James, of Sudbury, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at her home. She was 93.

Edie was born on December 28, 1922 in Weisbaden, Germany, the only child of the late Felix and Emma (Jaworski) Neugebauer. Raised and educated in Germany she immigrated to the United States in 1958 settling in Waltham where she lived until 2003 before moving to Sudbury. She was the wife of the late Carl B. James who died June 28, 1992.

For over 20 years Edie worked in the cafeteria at Waltham High School before retiring in 1982.

Edie was talented with crotchet. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the PFC John F. Sullivan, USMC VFW Post No. 10334.

In addition to her husband, Carl, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Tom Gledhill.

She leaves her children, Linda M. James and her husband, John Grasso, of Sudbury, Michael C. James and his wife, Deidre, of Swampscott, Erika A. James of Sudbury and Suzanna L. James and her husband, Charles Mustone, of Lynn; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Melissa Grasso and Andrew and Christopher James and several nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Edie's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, March 10th in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:45 p.m.
