Newton Centre - Mr. Edmund J. Walsh, of Newton Centre, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in his home. He was 62.
Ed was born in Newton on December 9, 1947, a son of Ruth (Cheney) Walsh of Framingham and the late John Walsh, and had been a lifelong resident. For the past twenty-five years Ed worked as a senior accountant for the Massachusetts State Lottery. He was a graduate of Saint Sebastian’s High School and had also attended Bentley College. He was a member of the International Order of Alhambra and in his spare time enjoyed golfing, video games, cribbage, backgammon and motorcycling.
In addition to his mother, Ed leaves his wife Barbara J. (Maher) Walsh; his sons, Matthew J. Walsh and his wife, Kathleen, of Newton Centre and Michael P. Walsh and his fiancée, Jen Baker, of Plymouth and his grandchildren, Abbagail and Conner.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ed’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Monday morning at Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut Street, Newton where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery.
