Waltham- Mr. Edward V. Bright of Waltham died Friday November 7, 2003 in Caritas Saint Elizabeths Medical Center, Brighton. He was 83. Mr. Bright was a lifelong Waltham resident. He worked for more than fifty years for the City of Waltham Street Department until his retirement thirteen years ago. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army and participated in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily and Sardinia. He was present at the bombing of Monte Cassino in Italy that helped to end the five month battle that led to the the capture of Rome, the first Axis capital to fall, in June, 1944. His unit went on to fight in France and in Germany until the war's end. He was the husband of the late Marion E. (Eden) Bright; the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Doyle) Bright and the brother of the late William, Bernard, Joseph, and George Bright, Edna Roper and Rita Shea. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, November 10, from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Josephs Church, 519 Main Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
