Mr. Edward A. Carruthers of Waltham died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Northeast Specialty Hospital, Waltham. He was 92. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Albridge and Mary (Finneran) Carruthers, he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1931 graduate of Waltham High School and until his retirement had worked for forty-three years as a supervisor for the Boston Edison Company. Mr. Carruthers was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed spending summers in Jackman, Maine and being with his grandchildren. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Lillian A. (Sullivan) Carruthers; three children, Mary Ann Ham and her husband Ronald of Sudbury, Margaret Pergola and her husband David of Belmont and Ellen Darsch and her husband Charles of Sudbury; one brother, Arthur Carruthers of Maynard; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Albert, William and John Carruthers, Lillian Schoorens, Mary Keane and Helen Tardiff. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Wednesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
