Mr. Edward T. ‘Tim’ Casey, Jr., formerly of Lincoln and Waltham, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 in Lahey Medical Center. He was 84.
Edward T. Casey, Jr. was born on January 24, 1939 in Waltham, a son of the late Edward T. ‘Ted’ and Ruth K. (Gallagher) Casey. Raised in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1956. Lovingly known to family and friends as ‘Tim,’ he honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. He married Waltham native Ann M. Ryan on October 7, 1961 in Saint Mary’s Church. Residents of Waltham Tim later built a home in 1980 in Lincoln with the help of his sons. They lived there until 2022.
Tim spent most of his career in the hardware business as Vice President of Mass. Hardware on High Street in Waltham. Retiring in 1999, he then opened a new opportunity to work for over twenty years in various capacities at Concord Country Club.
Tim’s escape and rest actually came in the form of tending to his home and yard. A professional tinkerer he always had a project at hand and was forever working on his lawn, grass and garden. His green thumb netted the greenest grass on the street each year. Tim will be lovingly remembered as a friend to all who met him.
He was the cherished ‘Pappy’ to eight grandchildren and was at as many of their school, sporting and other events as possible.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Ann, he leaves his sons, Terrence P. ‘Terry’ Casey (Cathie) of Westford, Edward T. ‘Ted’ Casey, III (Laura) of Tyngsboro, Timothy J. ‘Tim’ Casey (Lauri) of Medfield, and Christopher T. Casey (Carrie) of Tyngsboro; his grandchildren, Terry, Taylor (Danny Moreno), Nicholas, Christian, Reegan, Timothy Joseph 'T.J.', Hailey, and Lexie; his siblings, Thomas J. Casey (Mary) of Billerica, Robert C. Casey (Anne) of Waltham and the late Marie Denehy (late Joseph); his sister-in-law, Barbara Ryan of Mashpee; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Tim’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, March 8th from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 9th in Saint Joseph’s Church, 142 Lincoln Street, Lincoln at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln.
