Edward F. Champagne died unexpectedly on Feb. 8, 2018. He was born on August 18, 1941 in Boston, the son of the late Edward and Anna (O'Callahan) Champagne of Watertown.
Edward was raised in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1959. He spent four years in the United States Navy working as an electrician. He was also on active duty during the Vietnam War. Edward also worked as a custodian for the City of Newton Schools for many years.
He spent his last years retired and living in Green Valley, Arizona. Edward enjoyed spending time exploring new places with his cousin Frank Ahearn, and Natalie Bancroft, his Arizona friends and other friends and family who would visit. He was also active at the local pool and made lots of memories with his "pool buddies." Edward was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Elks Club.
Edward is survived by his sons Paul Champagne of Malden and Robert Champagne of Austin, Texas; daughter Lisa Bellows and her husband, Kenny, of Chester, New Hampshire; grandchildren Ethan and Elyse Bellows and Olivia Montemayor; his former wife, Frances Champagne of Waltham; brother Paul Champagne and his wife, Betsy, of Plymouth; niece Jennifer Champagne and nephew Christopher Champagne.
Family and friends will honor and remember Edward's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 13th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
