North Chelmsford Mr. Edward J. Comeau of North Chelmsford, formerly of Waltham, died Friday, January 27, 2006 at Sawtelle House Hospice in Reading. He was 71. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Alphonse and Zoe (Saulnier) Comeau, he was raised in Belmont. Before moving to North Chelmsford four years ago, Ed lived with his family on Beal Road in Waltham for 40 years. He was a 1953 graduate of Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester and from Northeastern University, Boston in 1958 with a degree in civil engineering. He also served as a captain with the reserves of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Until his retirement Ed worked as a civil engineer and construction manager for ICF Kaiser Engineers and Constructors in Boston. He had also worked for Mansfield Builders of Wellesley and for several years he was executive vice-president and operations manager for Wes Construction Corporation of Dedham. Ed was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers. He had also been a member and past president of the New England region of the American Association of Cost Engineers and the Northeastern University Civil Engineering Alumni Association. He formerly belonged to the Society of American Military Engineers. He leaves his wife, Jane E. (Kennedy) Comeau; five children, John E. Comeau and his wife Doreen of Mansfield, Eileen M. Comeau of Burlington, Thomas F. Comeau and his wife Ann of Canton, Marie T. Murray and her husband David, and Caroline E. Taitelbaum and her husband Scott, all of Burlington; one brother, Ernest Comeau of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters, Laura Duffy of Foxboro and Catherine Comeau of Belmont; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Alfred Comeau. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery.
