Waltham - Mr. Edward R. Dunne, Jr., of Waltham, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 89. Born in Newton, a son of the late Edward and Nellie (McCarthy) Dunne, he had lived in Waltham since 1948. Ed was a past president of the BASHA organization, a member of the China-Burma-India Association and the HUMP Pilot's Association. In his spare time following retirement, Ed enjoyed traveling to various airports and loved antique cars. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. Ed was the husband of the late Moira I.(Phelan) Dunne, and father of the late Clark Dunne. He leaves his children, Ted Dunne of West Newton, Mary T. Hatch, of Wilmington, Naomi Bouche of Rutland, Dolly Palmieri of Paradise, California, Michael J. Dunne of Waltham, Juliana Matthews of Adams and Carolyn D. Kretz of Sterling; one sister, Helen MacDonald of San Ramon, California; his dear friend, Pat Westover of Waltham, and several grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Wednesday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Greater Boston Association for Retarded Citizens, 1249 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02221.
