Waltham - Mr. Edward J. Mahoney, Jr., of Waltham, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. He was 77. Born in Hudson, a son of the late Edward J. and Esther A. (Curley) Mahoney, Ed had been a lifelong resident of Waltham. Until his retirement he was the owner of E. J. Mahoney Contracting for many years. After that he worked for the Raytheon Corporation for fifteen years. Ed was a member of the Waltham Lodge of Elks and in his spare time he enjoyed golfing. During the Korean War he served with the United States Navy. He leaves his wife, Patricia C. (Lally) Mahoney; his children, Edward J. Mahoney of Waltham, Paul K. Mahoney and his wife, Maria, of Attleboro, Michael J. Mahoney and his wife, Karen, Mary K. Mahoney all of Waltham and Matthew Mahoney and his wife, Paula, of Mesa, Arizona; his grandchildren, Nicole Farthing, Jaime, Danielle, Michael, Lauren, and Mallory Mahoney; his sister, Carol Collura of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to VNA Care Network, 245 Winter Street, Waltham, MA 02451.
