Mr. Edward R. “Ted” Dunne, III, of Waltham, died Thursday, June 22nd in Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He was 75.
Ted was born in Newton on October 3, 1947, a son of the late Edward R., Jr. and Moira (Phelan) Dunne. Raised in Waltham, he was a 1965 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School and continued his education at Franklin Institute in Boston. He had worked in construction and was the owner and operator of E.R. Dunne Trucking for several years. Ted had also served in the Army Reserves.
A lifelong truck enthusiast, he maintained an impressive fleet of vehicles over the years. In addition to trucks, he enjoyed collecting various novelty construction items. Ted had lived in Newton for many years before moving back to Waltham fifteen years ago.
In addition to his parents, Ted is reunited in Heaven with his brother, the late Peter Clark Dunne.
He leaves his brother and sisters, Mary T. Hatch of Wilmington, Naomi A. Bouche of Rutland, Dolly Palmieri (Joseph) of Kingman, Arizona, Michael J. Dunne of Waltham, Juliana C. Matthews of Adams, and Carolyn D. Kretz (Charles) of Sterling and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ted’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Tuesday, June 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
