Edward W. Reed

Waltham – Mr. Edward W. Reed, Sr., of Waltham, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Lasell House in Newton. He was 89. Born and raised in Taunton, a son of the late William H. and Emma B. (Robinson) Reed, Ed had lived in Waltham for more than fifty years. He was a 1940 graduate of Harvard University and after that served as a captain with the United States Army during World War II. Until his retirement he worked as an administrator for the Raytheon Corporation, the last twenty-seven years at the Wayland plant. Ed leaves his wife, Arlene (Poitras) Pratt-Reed; his children, Tim Reed and Margaret Paladini, both of Stow, Edward Reed of Alabama, Chris Reed of Florida, Brad Reed of Georgia, Bradford Pratt of Somerville, and Laura Jeanne Pratt of Waltham; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday October 13, 2008 at 8 a.m. in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham.
