Mrs. Eleanor V. "Nell" (Toohey) Fienman of Waltham and Florida, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 in the Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was 100. Until recent weeks, she enjoyed a wonderful life in Florida where she had made her home for the past fifteen years.
Nell was born in Boston on November 9, 1915, the first child of the late Charles and Catherine (Dooley) Toohey.
In 1933, Nell married David Fienman of Brighton. They moved to Trapelo Road in Waltham in 1942. Nell was a true homemaker and an exceptional cook who devoted her life to the happiness of her family. She and Dave were married for fifty-five years before his passing in 1988. During their lifetime, they welcomed friends and family into their home, which was always full of fun and food.
Summers were spent at Plum Island, MA and Seabrook, NH where Nell and Dave, again, were always welcoming family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband, David, Nell is predeceased by her brother and sisters, Charles Toohey, Rose Chambers, and Alice Sandison.
Nell is survived by her children, Shirley McPherson-Lapinskas and her husband, Ronald, of Parrish FL, Joan Harvey of Waltham, and Paulette Bertolami of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her adored grandchildren, Mark Harvey of Shrewsbury, Michael Harvey of Longwood FL, Matthew Harvey of Waltham, and Tara Bertolami of Woburn; her great granddaughters, Rose and Erin Harvey of Longwood FL, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She will forever live in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 16th, in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
