Mrs. Eleanor A. (Doyle) Gatti, of Waltham, formerly of Watertown, died on March 11, 2020 in Saint Patrick's Manor, Framingham. She was 85 years old.
Eleanor was born in Waltham on December 30, 1934, the daughter of the late James and Theresa (Hines) Doyle. She was raised and educated in Watertown where she was a resident until a move to Waltham in 1980. She worked in administration at a number of local businesses including Waltham and Watertown Savings Banks and had most recently worked at Barry Controls.
While in high school she met Waltham native Joseph Gatti and the pair wed on August 28, 1955 in Saint Patrick's Church in Watertown. Some of the family's happiest memories were summers spent camping at Pine Acres in Oakham. In her spare time she loved to spend time with her family and friends and was also an avid reader.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Gatti and is survived by her children, Linda M. Hamilton (Michael) of Wrentham and Joseph D. Gatti, Jr. (Debra) of Londonderry, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher and Matthew Hamilton, Sarah Gatti and Sean and Garrett Peters; her great-grandchildren, Ilycia and Jacob Gatti, Sean Hamilton and Brody, Bentley and Jayden Peters; her brother, Kenneth Doyle of Waltham and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Edward Doyle, James Doyle and Mary Frances Tomez.
Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, March 15th from 2 to 4 p.m. Her Funeral Mass in Saint Patrick's Church in Watertown on Monday and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham will be private.
