Eleanor S. (DeStefano) Guerino, of Waltham, formerly of Watertown, died Friday, August 6, 2021 in Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. She was 101.
She was born on May 23, 1920 in Watertown one of ten children to the late Italian immigrants Joseph and Vincenza (Marini) DeStefano. Raised and educated in Watertown she married John J. 'Doc' Guerino on August 18, 1946. 'Doc' died on October 29, 2008 and Eleanor moved to Waltham eleven years ago.
In earlier years she worked at Raytheon Corporation before staying at home to raise her family...the role she loved most being mother and grandmother. Dubbed a 'fashionista' she was always dressed for the occasion. She had a knack and talent for decorating. Eleanor was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in West Newton.
Wife of the late John J. 'Doc' Guerino she was predeceased by her grandson, John Guerino and siblings, Joseph, Albert, Frank, Domenic, Frederick and Lawrence DeStefano, Mary Annese and Lucy Chaisson
She leaves her sons, Basil J. Guerino (Carol Montgomery) of Peabody, Paul A. Guerino of Waltham and Gary J. Guerino (Robin Hoffman) of Waltham; grandmother of Eric Guerino (Kimberly), Kristie Rabideau (Christopher); great-grandmother of Steven, Austin, Erica, Christopher and Jax; her sister, Antoinette Rogers of Concord; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, August 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. before leaving in procession to Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mount Auburn St., Cambridge where her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m.
