Waltham – Ms. Eleanor G. Hayes, of Waltham, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Lexington Health Care Center. She was 96.
Eleanor was born in Calais, Maine on February 11, 1915, a daughter of the late David and Mary (Burgess) Hayes. She moved to Waltham at the age of 18 and worked at the Waltham Watch Factory and for the Raytheon Corporation. During World War II she worked at the Arsenal in Watertown and for over 35 years she owned and operated Eleanor Hayes Beauty Salon on Moody Street.
She was the wife of the late Guy Bottari and sister of the late Jack Hayes, William Hayes, Florence Hayes, Cecilia Hayes, Gladys Hayes, Ilene Cook, Mary Murphy and Helena Lawless.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor's life by gathering at the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in The Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham. Burial will follow in Mount. Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
